Pickled Kaiser Chiefs perhaps?

Strange world we live in when alcohol is so cheap in a country where most states are “dry” and most Indians don’t drink. After all they are usually Hindu, Muslim or Catholic so not allowed of course!

This is GOA, a non-dry state, where many visitors, as well as the locals who are mainly Catholics – get very easily drunk for some reason.

Maybe this picture can demonstrate

The whole lot here cost Rs.210/-. That is 2 x 210 rupees for thistuborg + 180 ml bottle of honeybee brandy + 180ml of vodka (romanov) + 2 diet cokes.

At todays exchange rates that is £2.11 or Euros 2.60 or US$3.54.

And the most expensive items? = the diet cokes!

So if you don’t come to Goa for the sun, the beaches or the friendly people then I guess Goa tourism could attract you with cheap drink, providing you prefer alcohol to soft drinks!

So it got me wondering, with so little else occupying their heads, were the Kaiser Chiefs ever in Goa on a bender and was the original title of their song Ruby actually Rupee?

About travell1ngthroughl1fe

I am a fun-loving person who goes with the flow and travels through life most of the time though sometimes I have to be responsible when others try to get me on their track! Most of the time though people tell me I am barking mad! hahahaha! Life is short but oh so sweet so I believe in looking out for the bright side of life and I can always find a positive in everything! Half-empty glasses are not for me. Negativity is an ill I want to cure in everyone. Only after you heal your own soul can you help to really heal the world. So when you need help, ask for it and where it is offered, gratefully accept it as a gift.
